I still need to decide if other community lots- and how many 'garden type' lots to intersperse into the "Manor District" - but other than that- The Database is READY!
Later - lol - 'this morning' (did it again - it's 3:30am here!) I will post more specifics regarding building esteriors/appearances hoped for per type/district - but - if anyone wants to claim a specific lot to build just post here!
In our yahoo BuildersBoulevard, in the photo section, I have placed several photo albums with pictures dipicting the 'flavor' of the lot/buildings. I would like each builder to connect with one or more photos for the lot they sign for and keep that "Impression" in mind in building. After all - this 'world' is meant to honor Claude Monet and his contribution to the Art World. The pictures are either repros of his paintings or taken from the general area in and around Giverny France/Sante Andresse (his favored beachside community to visit and paint)
In general - Seaside- Wood boards/weathered and/or painted pale pastels with white or creme accents
Village- All buildings half-timbered over either aged brick, stone or rough plaster-neutrals
Manor Homes/Buildings - Smooth Plaster or 'neat' bricks/stones in combinations-lower manors can also have half-timbers or wood boards as 'accents'-per 'level-lower/better/best-from vibrant up to mellow/pastels with white/creme/co-ordinating color accents
Farmhouses- wood boards, rough plaster, rough brick or rough stone, or siding/clapboards- vibrant to aged vibrant
Serfs- unpainted/peeling if possible wood boards- grey/dirty browns
Ancients- darkened rough stone-with half-timbers if appropriate-greys or browns
King's Complex- Smooth, very plaster and/or marble-polished or textured-lighter colors, with darker colors as accents
Also - maxis does not give the lot sizes correctly - so if you choose to build on a lot other than the one for your build make sure that if it says 20x30 the front of the building is 20w, not 30 - it makes a huge difference when placing lots
AND - of course- no garages or driveways - this was an era of bicycles or walking if one could not obtain 'carriages' *(where oh where is that custom content!)
Sign for one lot- when positive it will be completed soon you can, if you wish, sign for another one - this is a group only project- not for all the simmers on the bbs who are not members.. membership does have it's perks..
And - feedback on the planning and layout - positive and/or negative - would be greatly appreciated. (except - I already know how late I am with this.. lol)
Any questions on specific lot builds- general info, etc - either post here or to catch my attention quickly email me.. I check about hourly hoping to see my son or daughter's email name as a sender to me..
Now - I AM going to go take my bubble bath - and fix something to eat- I put off my Saturday breakfast until about 8pm- and gee, ya think I might be hungry?

Oh wow! I had a hard time deciding on a lot. You've done a WONDERFUL job with this, Ruth. I ended up deciding on building for 2 serf families. I'm a little worried about the size of the lot I selected (the biggest), but I really like the requirements of the build. If I get too bogged down, I'll give it up and take another instead.
I already put my name in the database next to the family. Are we to create them, too?
Thank you so much for all your hardwork on this. It will be lovely, I am confident! Addict

Wow, this took a lot of work. Thanks so much for putting it together for us. I am going to sign up for a community beach lot this time around. #48. It was the first one that sprang of the list and into my mind with ideas. This is going to be a great neighborhood when finished. So much talent here.

This is tickled pink-purple! Addict - that is why I said a shack type for each family- and the rest vegetable and fruit gardens- less 'size' to the size.. btw- also, include haystacks *(if you have Riverview- if not, spaces for them to go and I can add them) Monet was big on haystacks Robodl98 - be sure to check the 1-MonetWaterLilyPond folder at the yahoo group- great pictures taken at that pond this year by the curator- and paintings by Monet Terentia - join! this is a great and close group! Then - join! Help us create our tribute to Claude Monet! Pallypoo - Thank you, yes, it did take work, lots.. but mostly enjoyable as when in high school and college I majored/minored in art- and always envied Monet for being able to just paint what he felt in a landscape instead of the Old School reproduction of the visual.. I learned so much about him, his influence, who influenced him- and the countryside in and around Giverny.. never wanted to go to France before but I do now! - will check #48 on the database to be sure I know which one you chose.. each does have different 'requirements' and 'flavors'/uses - and - there are also pictures of these as I visualized them from Monet's paintings and from my 60 years of living never further than 30 miles from the ocean until I got marooned here in Sacramento - folder is 1-Seaside Off to a good start!

Im so excited! Got to go get started, One Question, I thought it would be cool since if I included Alice's and (His son whose name I forget) there since their deaths played a big part in the painting, It wouldnt make it a graveyard becuase you need 4 graves, So yes or no?

How do members sign up for a lot? Is there a list somewhere?

Was just wondering about a deadline? I signed up for a castle lot, which is quite ambitious for me, but I wanted to recreate the chateau I stayed at in May when I went to France.
It was absolutely beautiful and I have tons more pictures, but I am unsure if I can do this on that 40x32 lot. I might have to scale things down some so I can capture the landscaping properly. I've never built a castle lot before, so this would be a nice little challenge for me. My only main concern is that I will probably not be able to start on this until after I come back from my trip. I'll be on vacation 12th-18th. If that is too late, and as I know these castle lots are important, I can step aside and let someone else do #7 and I'll take something smaller. I can always do this chateau later, but I just thought it would be perfect for this neighborhood. Great job, Ruth! I'm so glad we're starting this!

Robb, take a look at the "Database" section and look for the Sunset Impressions database. It is a wiki page where you can click on "easy edit" after you get to the page and it'll let you type in your name next to the lot.

Anjubee- did you get my private message? I think you and I were both editing- and now the database needs 'help'
and - no deadline- I anticipate as this is group only, and 92 lots- it could last at least 2 months and maybe more-
and that Chateau looks beautiful! - could you add the pictures to the 1-King's Complex photo album in the yahoo group files in photos with the name, etc? I am silly- but I save stuff like that just for me..
Robodl - The water lily pond in real-life is also the Japanese Bridge garden which for detail attention to both I separated. Monet was very partial to his water lily pond- actually had a boat and would use it as a floating studio for painting. We need to keep it pure as to his impression...
If you want- you can create and 'kill' them and add the tombstones to the new village cemetary/mauseleum - or sign up for Monet's home instead and add 2-3 there in a discreet part of the grounds...
Robb - Welcome to Sunrise Impressions!
and Anjubee- you are not half as happy that we are finally launched as I am! I just hate it when I make an important commitment (Sims!) and real-life interferes!
btw- Robodl - Monet had two wives, both died early in life, two sons by wife #1, and wife#2 (Alice) brought her six children to the marriage- thus he had to expand the farmhouse he had rented- so it is very long- and narrow. His sons inherited the property but war came and they never lived there after he died- now it is run by a curator..

Great - Thanks Anju. I signed up for a lot. The database was whacked when I first accessed it (tabel layout was messed up). It looks okay now, but I hope my browser didn't somehow mess it up. I got a "someone else is editing this table" message, so I only merged my name into their save. What browser are others using to view the database? I'm using Firefox on a PC, but I was concerned that my browser may be interferring with the smooth operation of the table editing.

Robb- it was the illustrious and database ignorant creator of Sunrise Impressions who messed up the database- but Anjubee came to my rescue- it is now totally planned, even the manor district- and neatly organized..
I am 'fused here - you signed up for a 30x30 Family Farm lot on Pinochle Point- but want to play with 9 sun song which is a small beach cottage 20x30 lot? Did you want to do both or change your mind on the lot to do? Or am I just sleep and food deprived? - or all of above..
I do suggest you review the photo albums that are Sunrise Impressions/Monet specific and in the photos section of our yahoo group - they all begin with 1- and are by type/district

Wow, this looks amazing. I might try a lot. I need to read more about all this first though. I would not want to mess it up with something that didn't fit in.
