When I was in Highschool I used to run a Forum RPG...which later lead to leading an RPG forum with some girls that were in the RPG I created (This will all make sense shortly I promise.)

If you haven't did any forum RPG's or have no clue what I'm talking about, the way I ran mine was pretty much like writing a story with other people.  You'd have a character or characters and each time you'd post you'd add to the story where the last person left off.  So basically, you write as story with others...and it's fun ~_^.  Writer's block is a terrible thing and having another person or people to feed your inspiration is super helpful and a good time!

What am I getting at?

Well, the other day I got to thinking it could be a fun idea to do a legacy...with other people.  Say, 1 person starts it...plays the family for 1 generation...then uploads the lot and family to the exchange and the second person takes over for generation 2.  Each person would write a story for their generation and pop it up on the exchange.  Everyone (be it 2 or 15 people) would take their turn playing the family.

I think it would be fun to see how the family and their story would develope in the hands of different people through the familys generations.

Just a thought ~_^ But if anyone is up to it, let me know!

That actually really sounds like an interesting family, since I haven't been able to play a legacy past generation 2 as of yet!  lol

I actually used to write for those forum RPGs too back in the AOL forum days!  It's how I got my interest in writing and design...

I still recreate those characters from time to time in my MMOs!

That's pretty much my problem with my "legacy" family.  It's not that I don't want to play them lol, it's just that my attention span with them isn't the best.  I get to busy building houses then I want to throw a sim in them to test them out...and end up playing that family or sim until Im bored and repeat the process.

I almost think doing it with someone would make it more fun...and keep me interested in the family.  Simply because I'd want to play it and do my part to see where the other person or people take the story.

I actually think I'm going to sit down and "think" this process out and post something with more detail.  I got some crazy ideas for how to do this and they may be really crazy lol but crazy is sometimes the best kinda fun ~_^

I would totally join count me in!

Each generation everyone would have to re-do the legacy home

We could call it the builders Legacy

I like it!

I would have to do one of the first few generations tho i think, since my uploader hates large MB lots.

I love the Builder idea tho- that can be the family's last name.

And in the lot description, have a line for each generation-

Generation 1 and home by ****

Yeah, I was throwing around the idea that each generation the house would be added to...not really completely different but transform in a way.  That way as the story progressed you could see the house evolve but still hold part of each persons addition to the home.

Something else I'm a little stuck on is Brothers and sisters.  Now, if they're moved out of the home...when the lot is uploaded they wont be in the "new" family.  So family ties are cut.  An idea I was throwing around was that we limit the number of children the family can have per generation...say two, one heir, one spare.  That way Uncle John or Aunt Sue can remain in the family home...but of course they don't get married and don't have any children.  They're just kinda there incase something happens to the heir you choose during your generation play.  They can also help bring income into the home and you don't really have to "play" them unless you want to.

Thoughts? Suggestions? ~_^

Team Legacy Challenge

-Summary-

The general idea behind “The Team Legacy Challenge” is to watch a family grow and experience their journey through life in the hands of multiple simmers.

-General Setup-

Before the challenge begins you first need to know how many people will be playing the family. The way the challenge works is: Each person, in turn, plays one generation of the chosen family. At the end of the generation the lot and family are uploaded to the exchange to be downloaded by the next person in line to play the family. Along with uploading the lot and family you must also create a story or movie for your generation. This allows the next person and the people waiting to play the family to pick up where you leave off.

-General Rules-

-Aging must be set to normal.

-No sims are to ever move out of the home.

-You are free to play the family as you wish on your turn.

-A generation ends when the heir dies.

-You may only age a sim within 5 days of their birthday.

-When a family member dies, their tombstone must be placed in the graveyard on the family lot.

-When building on to the family lot, please respect the additions of other players and make your additions accordingly.

-Getting Started-

-First, as a group, your writing team must come up with your original founding sims. Each person playing can submit one female and one male sim (please include their bio). A forum poll or silent vote (through pm’s or email) will be held and the wining male and female sims will become the official legacy founders.

-After your founders are selected, it’s important to come up with a playing rotation for everyone. Ideally, 10 generations should be played. Depending on how many people are involved in the challenge some may play the family more than once. If you have more than 10 people wanting to play the family that is (1) Completely fine and (2) Will make one interesting story!

-The lot suggested to play the family on is the 60X60 lot on the hill in Sunset Valley.

-Additional Notes-

-Per generation it is highly suggested you produce two offspring. One, to be the heir and one, to be the spare. The spare remains a part of the family unit just incase something happens to your heir. This sim can bring income into the home but cannot marry or have children of their own.

-There wont be any type of scoring aside from the rec’s your stories (or movies) will receive from the players and fans of your team legacy.

-Try to limit CC or if you add custom content to the lot or family, make sure you make a note of it so those playing the family can access the content.

-------------------------------------------

Ok, for now…that’s what I’ve come up with ~_^

If anyone has anything else they think will make the challenge even more fun, feel free to say so before we get any gears turning!

Ok, putting together a list of those who are interested in trying this out ~_^

The players

Animaga

Mmyoko

Robodl95

Bennjoon (?)

Clovergoddess (?)

with 5 people each of us could play the family for 2 generations...which I think would be more fun if we didn't play those 2 generations back to back.  Example: The first that played the first generation would then play generation 6, generation 2's player would take back over with generation 7.

At some point we may want to decide how to choose the heirs.  Honestly, think during your play time it's totally up to you which child you decide to carry on the legacy because odds are you're going to playing the next's generation heir atlesat until they're a teen or young adult.  I'm easy though ~_^ part of the fun with the project for me is just waiting to see how you guys turn out the story and how things will go once I get behind the wheel lol

Once we get some soild confirmations from Clovergoddess, I'll set up an "offical" thread in the challenges section and possibly set one up on the Sim3 forum so we can keep an updated list of storys and the like.

Then, we can start getting our founder's set up ~_^

So are we starting with 1 sim or 2? I think it's nicer to start with a single sim and find a mate even if the mate is player made anyway

What should our family be like? Should we play of the builder theme and make Handy the family trait? Handy is kinda a boring trait though, We could give it to our founder not as a family trait though, What other traits describe Builders Boulevard?

Insane possibly? Computer Whiz? Artistic? Friendly?
