Hello everybody,

after the discussion regarding CC in the project here is a thread for posting requests for needed custom content for the project. I realize it will be hard to make samurais, sumo wrestlers and geishas without some custom content...

I will maintain a list in this thread of all the approved custom content. So what makes a custom content approved? Well, it should be created by a BB member, and tested in-game to ensure it is not harmfull for the game. If you need something for the project, request it here. If you are creating custom content post your creations here

To be able to download and install some of the content listed bellow, you will need the

Geisha face 2

Yes, yes, I know the TSR problems. I just thought I'd still post it. Someone can still make his/her own version.

Asante, I might make up a few Geisha masks.

Qube, those are great swords, however I think we're trying to stick to BB created.    But it looks like those are conversions from Sims 2.  I think basic meshers would be able to pull those, maybe even change up the functionality.

Request: Tattoos for my Yakuza family (Yes, I signed that one up) (Or are we going to use the already existing ones?)

And I hope someone finds out a way to have swords as props, not only as wall decoration...

OMG - just cloned my first painting! I've been wanting to this for a while, but this project finally gave me the push to do it.  Here it is:

It does not replace any painting in the game and has a quite reasonable price of $75.  Image is from http://www.thepaintedeye.com/2_cranes__tree_with_lettering.JPG  I'll do some more if this is part of what you were thinking of for CC.

By the way, is there anyone here, one or more, that would like to take the role of testing the CC that we add to the list?

A bit of quality test to make sure all we do works well.... I feel I have too much other things to organize atm, so it'd be great if someone else had the time

bulfrog,

those calligraphy posters would be perfect, I agree

I would suggest asking Simsprocfun to create anything we need as she is capable of doing just about anything You can check out lots of her cc already made here; http://forum.thesims3.com/jforum/posts/list/74186.page

Not sure if she is a member here or not but am putting out a shout for her to join in that htread of hers...lol... she is simply ultra talented when it comes to cc Maybe if many of us shout for her to join us here, we will leave her no choice...lol

Hugs, Terry

KitKat, that looks great.  But one thing, is it your own art?  If not, you may want to get permission from the artist to use before publishing it for public distribution.  Even though the art is too small for someone to extract and steal for any practical use, some artists may be pretty particular about distribution of their art.  Especially for commissioned works.  Most artists will just ask for a link back and credit.  I wouldn't want Builder's Boulevard to have any issues with people complaining about copy rights, etc.

Terry, why not invite Simsprocfun to join BB?  I couldn't load the link you provided.  Maybe TS3 is being slow or something.  bah.

Okay, I'm going to try to work on some tattoos and Geisha masks.  Asante, did you have any reference images I can work from for tattoo ideas?  I might create some custom artwork rather than go from stock images.  I am an artist, so anyone who wants me to create custom art for them/me to convert to Sims use, I can do that too.  Just send me a request.

Good point Gillian. I didn't want to put it on the exchange for that very reason.  I've emailed the artist and will let everyone know what she says.  I hope it's good news - I LOVE the colors she used, and I haven't found any vintage art quite like that.

Bullfrog - I'll see what I can do with those! Looks like they would work fine. Do you want a frame or no?

Tota - I'm going to test these on the exchange to see if they download correctly. If not, I'll put them on my weebly site and provide a link. Glad you like it

Yeah, I actually got a guilty conscience for going to SAG (simsartgallery) because there's no info to accredit artists and she completely ignored my comment.  So I quit going there and removed all those beautiful paintings from my game.  Being an artist who respects and understands other artists, I could not in good conscience keep them in my game.

It's one thing to make something (like a wallpaper) for personal use on your own computer, but the moment you share it, you run into a whole big world of trouble.  Sure it may be wonderful to share and many people will appreciate it, but copy rights laws require permissions.  I even only use stock in any of my patterns or anything and make sure to give credits and follow creator's rules.  I don't want someone throwing copy right laws at me and such.  Things like logos and iconic characters and even some classic art might be a bit different.

And being forced to take down a creation would suck.  One, the amount of effort you put into it, and second, the fact you already like the piece enough to be making a little tribute to it.  Personally, I find it flattering if others like my work enough for something like this.  But artists who are professional artists tend to be "professional" about it.

I'm not trying to bad mouth SAG or anything, I just know she grabs random images without saving info like where she got it or who made it or asking permission.  And there could be people who hate the Sims who would be appalled to have their artwork in it.  I advised that she try to find credit info and links and such like notifying the artists of it's use and she just completely ignored my post.  And she's concerned about getting hotlinked and people claiming her paintings, and I fail to see the difference.  I know it's the most popular custom art site out there and really great content at that.  I'm sure I'm the only person on Earth to blacklist that site...

Totally in agreement Gillian. With the availability of images on the Internet, it's all too easy to grab pictures without thinking about the rights of the creator. With that in mind, I did some searches for Japanese paintings in the public domain and found some really awesome ones - without the worry of copyright issues!  Most are old enough  - artist life plus 70 years) that copyright has expired. A few were released to PD by the artist.  Wikimedia Commons seems to be a good resource for that type of thing.

Happy to hear this conversation, I agree with you when it comes to taking pictures from the net.

I just wanted to pop in and say that one idea would be to do conversions from the TS2 japanese paintings, for example the ones from Bon Voyage, I remember there are a couple of scrolls there that I thought where really nice.

All the best
