Here's another house. At first I wanted to make another modern house, but I couldn't resist http://www.thesims3.com/assetDetail.html?assetId=1354020
Anythoughts/feedback would be most welcome!

In the first interior picture and loft image, the separation between the floors with the wall paper choice you used is quite noticeable. If you used solid wallpapers or if you had the top wall match the top of the bottom wall (how would that look? plain would be better). Perhaps instead of wallpaper, maybe stucco. Something with a very subtle texture, but not too obvious. The open/enclosed porch area seems kinda crowded. Perhaps if you opened up the archways more or somehow flipped the bar area around so the bar is facing the archway and stools are outside, use cheat "moveObjects on" in order to place in front of doorway. You'd probably need to test to see if sims use or just stomp their feet. I've placed stools in front of archways before and had no problem. Over all, nice ranch. The hardwood floors go nicely with the elegant/modern decoration. Though perhaps with those colorful rugs, a few extra color in accents and miscellaneous objects to tie the rugs in with the rooms. i.e. coordinating curtains or candles (recolors of the candle are at modthesims, not sure what colors) or the tiles in the shower stall, maybe throw some towels on the wall with matching colors.

Thanks for the suggestions! But yea, the problem with the wallpaper is because TS3 only shows light if the light source is on the same level as the wall And yea I might try moving the wall all the way out to the stairs to make more room in that seating area!

Zzinged..your right about the lighting for different levels,so what i do for open are great rooms is put Chandeliers on top floor above sitting area.MOst homes i have ever worked in that had large open rooms like that have lighting up high,so it does work.I hope this helps you.

Thanks for your replies everyone! I took the advice on-board and made a few changes. Now the bar is set in it's own recessed area, and I decided to make the change in wallpaper really noticable. Since TS3 doesn't seem to like missing floors I thought heck may as well change it to a completely different wallpaper

Zzinged...I like the furniture placement. Not so sure about the different wall coverings from floor to ceiling. From what i can see there are 2 things you really need to learn to work with Moveobjects on cheat and use the CAS(create a style).Either change the color of your red furniture or change the blue lights, they just dont go well together.By using the moveobjects cheat, you can really get creative with coffee tables.I'll show you a couple of examples.I hope these help you with future works you do.

Well I was kinda following some inspiration pics in regards to the interior decor. I totally didn't think of using moveobjects to mesh together coffee tables like that though There's another thing to try!

There's a thread on TS3 that you can use for inspiration on moveObjects.

It was started by Asante. Some great ideas here.
