Builders' Boulevard

Hey all, I have been MIA for a bit due to RL and am finding a little bit of time to build. I do have a question since I have been out of it for a bit. I am making a house for the challenge (I am so hoping I can finish this one .. I have others for the other challenges that are now deemed work in progress) and I used a foundation on it. I then went to the basement tool to install a basement under the house and then a set of stairs. My problem is the stairs do not connect the basement to the floor of the house. There is a gap that is the distance of the foundation.

So my question is, if you are doing a basement, then you cannot use foundation or is there a way to use the basement tool with a house with a foundation? Or do I have to go back to the old fashion way of making basements if I want to use foundation.

You can make one with a foundation. I did this on a house of mine once. I can't remember exactly how I made it work (been a long day here). I'll see if I can find the house. You could also make an attached garage and put the intrance to the basement in the garage. I do know some of the lots in the China neighborhood use a foundation and have a basement, so you might check them out to see if you can get any ideas.

The easiest way is to delete the part of the foundation where the stairs will go, plus two blocks. Then build one set of stairs to go down from the foundation to the ground level, and then you can place your basement stairs on the ground level... hope I explained that right

Thank you guys, I don't have the EP so the instructions on "How To" was very helpful. Now I can have foundation and stairs though it does take a bit of coaxing to get what I want.
