"Your Sims 3 base game is incompatible with the current sims 3 expansion pack. Please update your game via the game launcher."

So I try to download the update 3 times...and it fails.  I finally get it to update and...Im still getting the error message and vista pop-ups saying the patch process has stopped working (which is because I assume it's already updated, but the launcher is telling me it isn't)

Now, I have yet to buy the stuff pack....whats annoying me is I can't even bypass the launcher saying my game needs updated (when it doesn't) simply to play the game.

Anyone know how I can fix this? Or do I need to jet to wal-mart to pick up the new stuff pack asap to end the madness?

did you get both updates? i have the same issue and i noticed i only had the 2.4.7 update. i then got the 1.9 one for the base game and i am playing right now. i had to get the launcher to co-operate first and not crash in order to do this.

I got one a few days ago? I think anyway, but it installed "fine."  I write it that way simply because after installing that patch the launcher seemed to bug out after I started playing the game and wouldn't close...save me going into task manager and closing it out.

I don't know, its been alot of weirdness the past week or so with it.  I do know I had to updates listed, one installed "fine." and now this one, since the stuff pack release, has totally jacked up my launcher.

I installed the stuff pack last night .... got the notice for updates.... took three times before it didn't error out on the update ... then it updated a second time, so there are definitely two seperate updates out there. I had just played Monday night and the two updates happened yestereday (tues).

All I know is all my stuff is broke. Sorry others are having issues. Mine updated, but to no avail. I am getting multiple save errors and desktop crashes so often I can't do much of anything but log in, move, try to save, crash. Very depressing and frustrating.

I have heard so many problems like these.  I didnt get  the new stuff pack.  My launcher only updated WA, at which point the launcher wouldnt let me do anything else.  I realised that I had changed my region code because Sims3 was purchased in the UK and WA was urchased in the US so I was not able to run the game.  I had to go back and change the region code to what it was previously, do the update and then change the region code back again so I could actually play the game. 

I only relised this once a GURU mentioned that even the tiniest change of a file would cause the game to fail on the update.  Just thought I would share my experience in case it can help anyone else.

I updated to the new, new nvidia driver and it stopped crashing.. so quickly... However, it is still crashing and still giving me save errors. Unfortunately, I cannot access the forums... So , anyone that is able to, please (if you have time), let me know if they offer solutions. Other than standing on one hand, putting my finger on my nose and hopping around in a circle.. all at the same time. hehehe Thanks

Well I thought it was just my bad fortune. Before the Stuff pack/update I was noticing a few bugs. One was when a Sim met a Lifetime want. The usual message was there and the points were added but there was no icon in the want spot. It just went blank. No Lifetime want showed any more. I also noticed a few instances of the jump bug. Where a Sim would be doing an action then suddenly 'jump' out of the action. After the Stuff pack (per digital d/l fromEA) these problems continued. The new beds that vibrate are not working. The option to vibrate comes up but the Sims 'jump' from the bed to standing next to it.  I tested this several times and it happens each time.  Last night I was playing and saving frequently when the Save error came back. I moved the save *.bad* file out of the folder and renamed the backup file. I am going to test it today but am not a happy camper.  My lot for the challenge also uploaded weird.  It is showing a view from the right side of the lot.  I tried changing the direction of the mailbox which usually works but it did not change the cover pic.  Arrgghh !!!

After I reinstalled, I was able to play while I was still getting the option to update, which I didn't.  After going to walmart and buying the stuff pack, the game updated itself on install. After that everything ran like clockwork.  Go figure >_<

EuphorialQueen - I'm having all those bizarre issues. I thought I was gypped because my so-called "vibrating" bed... didn't even have the vibrate option. Now I see it is a bug. Had no idea. lol This is insane.
