Katsu had always been able to charm the pants off of anyone.Add to that an ambition and work ethic that would make put mortal men to shameand Katsu was headed for power. Katsu knew even as a young professional that ifhe was going to make it in the world of politics then he would have to have theperfect wife by his side. She would need to be young and beautiful and have acharm all her own. And Katsu went about acquiring what he needed with amethodical drive. He staffed out many an assignment but this one he would bepersonally involved with. But he set up a meeting none the less.

Kimiko didn’t have the most romantic of courtships. One dayout of the blue the son of a family friend, Katsu Yamakiyo, came to call on herfather. Kimiko had  known Katsu most ofher life, she had even had a crush on him once because he was years older andso dashing. But she never expected when he rang the door bell that her life wasabout to take an unexpected turn. She had been concentrating on a new recipewhen she watched him follow her father into his study and just ready to put itin the oven when she watched him leave. He smiled that charismatic smile andgave her a nod as he left. It was not long before her father called for hermother to join him in the study and even shorter before she could hear hermother weeping with joy. Her mother is the one who broke the news to her;coming out of the study she ran to Kimiko and kissed her cheeks as she cried.Kimiko was to be married in two months.

During those two months Katsu came to court Kimiko inbetween his busy schedule at the town hall. He praised her cooking and herdrive for perfection stating that they would be nice additions for hishousehold. He took her to see the symphony and to the best restaurants. He wascharming and Kimiko felt that old crush try to resurface. But Kimiko never fellin love.

They were married in a quiet but traditional service andKimiko began her life as at Yamakiyo. She dressed right and went to as well ashosted fund raisers for her husband. She smiled when told and attended ribboncuttings. When at home she kept the home spotless and made sure to have dinnerready not matter when Katsu returned home.

Soon she was with child and they rejoiced. Their daughterTakara was born and immediately she showed signs of her father. As she grewinto a well loved friendly young woman she found a love of music and picked upthe guitar. Outwardly she the perfect beautiful daughter, but she had one smallfault, she was a flirt. Now for some families this would not be a tragedy but Takaraseemed to attract and be attracted too men whom her father did not approve of.So behind closed doors Katsu was being driven mad by his eldest daughter.

Their Second daughter Sayuri did not show signs of drivingher father crazy, at least not at this tender age. She was scholar who loved toread her books and paint. Kimiko worried though that her youngest was so easilyimpressed that she might one day be lured into bad decisions of her own.
