My Backyard Wedding

Katy and Rich have just purchased their first place together after getting engaged. The house isn’t ideal, but they have dreams of taking their savings and fixing up the place to their liking.  Hoping to start a family soon after they wed, they would like to ultimately turn this 2 bedroom / 1 bath “shotgun” into a 3 bedroom / 2 bathroom family home with a 2-car garage.  What they loved about the house is the spacious backyard and they can imagine having their dream wedding right in their very first place together.  However, with renovation expenses, they won’t have much to spend on their wedding.

They have set aside 10,000 simoleans to spruce up their yard and their perfect wedding and another 40,000 simoleans to renovate their new house.  Your challenge (should you choose to accept) is to help them plan and set up their dream wedding and have Richard carry Katy over the threshold of their renovated house.

Please note that this is an original EA starter called the "Shotgun Style" house in Sunset Valley, so it wasn't built by me.  Go nuts and knock down as many walls and add anything the budget and lot size allows.  The lot size is 30x40 and shouldn't be any larger.

This couple is loosely based on some friends of mine and I hope to direct them to some of your media so make sure you have some really nice pictures to show off!

Ahh I am making such a cute wedding chapel! I love it so much! Gaaah why does it have to be a home! XD

Ooh this sounds fun.  Not done a BnS challenge before, I have no idea why lol!  I would love to try and find time for this.

Hi, Anju. Sorry I missed your post. I checked around 7 on Wednesday, but turned off the comp soon after and then fell asleep for the night! I had parent teacher conferences and didn't get home till around 9 last night. I'm off today though, so once I can finally get ON the forums, I will update the main thread!

I have been working on this challenge but ran into a computer vs game snag :mad:. I have/had all the landscaping done. I converted the base house into the two car garage and built onto that for the living space. Then the trouble started. Got 'stuck' in style mode and then the items I was trying to reuse became invisible and the 'hand' icon got stuck.  Tried to salvage the lot but it will not upload so I can refresh my game. I am probably looking at total Uninstall and reinstall. 

Whew!!! I finished a complete uninstall /reinstall. 
Was not able to salvage my build. 
The forum/TS3 site is being tempormental as well. Not sure if I can do this one. *Sigh*

I think this was asked over at the TS3 forums as well, but since they're not accessable atm: Can we use the money earned from knocking down walls / deleting furniture as well, or only the family funds of about 50 000?

Good question, Linday!  Also, what is the deadline and can it be extended due to the TS3 site being down?  I can't DL the house/household to even get started yet. 

Wait!  Maybe I can find that house in the game and start on it then move the kids in later?  That won't work because of the money rules.  Well, it was a thought.  Or I'll practice on it until I can DL the challenge's house.  Anything to get me out of CAW!   

Well i finally found it...the sims 3 forumns dont work so i was frustrated finding BnS and my creative simtastics challenges...anyways i will probably try it this week

"Your challenge (should you choose to accept) is to help them plan and set up their dream wedding and have Richard carry Katy over the threshold of their renovated house."   Do Sims really do that after the wedding or is it a "leap into arms" command?  Sorry, I haven't played it enough to know.

I found the house and since I can't DL it with Richard and Katy already in it, may I use this empty one and move them in later...assuming they well eventually be available?  It's current furnished value is $16,271 so if I don't go over $66,271 as a total furnished value, will that be acceptable?  Seems like an OK idea to ME but what are your thoughts?

Happily thought to look here for the challenge this morning and was glad to find it. Have the house rebuilt and the wedding pics taken, just need to upload the build and sort out the screenshots (and somewhere to put them.... ).That's a job for tomorrow tho.

Can we post entry forms over here this week? Depending on when EA fix the forums, I may not have a chance to visit before wedsnesday to post one there.

Have my house done too, but still need to take pics of the whole thing, never mind uploading the lot. Well, that'll have to wait until I can actually access the lots in my studio... Which means monday, I hope!

Cameo- Later (much later, party in 30 minutes) would you like me to try to DL them, and upload them to MediaFire or something? It might work that way. Unless it has something to do with your launcher.

Alpha, dear!  Wish I knew what you mean.  My aging brain can't keep up with all this new teck stuff anymore.  What is MediaFire?  But how very nice of you to offer!  Have fun at the party!  Maybe we can connect again tomorrow?
