This Week’s Challenge: Ms. Lucky's Daycare Center

Challenge deadline: Wednesday, March 24th at 7 p.m. (Eastern time)

Organized: The word comes immediately to mind when you open Ms. Lucky’s email. Lucky, who recently won the lottery, explains in her note that she would like to spend part of her earnings on a free community daycare for toddlers, children, and teens. With an unlimited budget, the possibilities are pretty much limitless, but Ms. Lucky does have a specific vision in mind.

You review the list again:

Three main rooms (one for babies and toddlers, one for children, and one for teens)

Each of the three main rooms should have an area for eating, learning, playing, and relaxing.

The baby/toddler room should also have cribs and an attached baby-friendly bathroom.

Both the children and teens’ rooms should have a study and reading area.

There should be a kitchen in which the meals for all three levels are made.

There should be two common restrooms for the children and teens, one for males and one for females.

There should be two single-person restrooms, one for male and one for female staff members.

A director’s office with a small, attached waiting room should be located close to the front entry.

A small staff room should also be included for lunch and breaks.

At the back of the building, there should be a large playground with swings, a couple of jungle gyms, art tables, chess, and a large sandbox.

The playground should also include a covered picnic shelter with picnic tables.

There should be a large pool area with two pools: one for the children and teens, and one for the toddlers.

The pool area should also include restrooms and 2 outdoor showers for students to rinse off the pool chemicals after they swim.

The pool area should be inside the playground and have its own fence.

The entire playground should also have an additional fence.

At the bottom, Lucky includes one final note:

“I am still deciding about a name for the daycare. I will base it on the color scheme you decide. Please (primarily) use colors from one of the following options:

Option 1:

Dark green, light green, white, gold, and black (also optional in this scheme: sky blue)

Option 2:

Colors of the rainbow (red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, purple) and white

Ms. Lucky would like the build complete by Wednesday, March 24.

It's been awhile since you built a community lot. Time to get started!

Optional challenges:

1. Create Ms. Lucky and some of the lucky students who will attend her center.

2. Create a promotional "brochure" for the center. Provide a name for the new daycare and really sell Ms. Lucky's daycare program. Ms. Lucky isn't looking for a profit, but she doesn't want your beautiful new daycare to go to waste. Time to recruit some clients!

Oh cool! You know I think I might actually participate! Since I've started working on Scarcliff I've been doing a LOT of building, I don't have a daycare center in town but I could probably fit it in somewhere! (Goes off to wonderland *aka CAW*)

Wow there is a LOT of bathrooms in this place!!! 7 bathrooms seem a bit extensive 0.0

And I have a question when you say outdoor shower should it actually be outdoors? Because if it's outdoors everyone will be shooed away when someone uses it!

Hi, Robodl. There should only be 5 bathrooms. (2 for staff, 2 for children and teens to share, 1 in the nursery)The outdoor showers for the pool are for appearances. They don't still have the shower like the old Uni one in any of the new packs, do they? Have you ever been to the beach and they have a shower to wash off the sand on your feet, etc? That's what I was thinking. I understand your point about the shooing, though. So if you need to put them inside, go for it.

I'll try to remember to check here for questions, but I usually get to the Sims 3 site sooner.

Hope these clarify some things.

Addict, if EA's site has issues again, may we post the pictures here instead? *crossing my fingers hoping it isn't glitched*

Due to the limited time frame and the Eastern Time deadline hour conflicting with my working schedule 3/hrs late (Pacific Time) not to mention some goofy unresolved graphic problems with my game (NOT my 512 MB DDR3 NVIDIA GeForce 9600 GT Video Card!), I was unable to complete this challenge.

:(

However, I did start it and intend on finishing it after purchasing objects from the STORE just for this challenge!  No rush NOW but when it's done, I'll post it here as well as on the TS3 site, eventually.   No rush NOW!

GOOD LUCK to those who entered this one!  I'll be back to praise ya'ALL!

Hey Dude!  I got sucked into CAW ever since it came out until I just recently found this site, which actually SAVED me from it!  :D

I picked the largest map (mistake) and was trying to sort of replicate my own city.  I have no imagination and replicating has been easier for me in "building" and then CAW came along. I OD’d on it but haven’t dumped my attempt yet. Who knows how long it’s going to take me to be inspired to even finish it?  Could take a year or more.

CAW is so much MORE challenging than just building a "lot" so I wish you much luck with your Scarcliff world! I’ve seen some great ones and I’m so jealous! Don't forget to place ALL those spawners everywhere!  And good luck with THIS challenge as well. I bailed on it but hope to be able to participate in future ones.

Take care and carry on!
