Help! Does anyone know a safe, free way to convert screenshots to PNG  and change them to 512x512 on a Mac? I've tried various places for resizing, but it's the file formatting that's really giving me issues.

I have a feeling I'm going to need to start a Mac users thread on here...

There are Photoshop Elements for Mac free trial that you can start with until you find something else or want to buy it.

The png file format is the same for mac and pc. It should not cause any problems for you.

I don't have a mac but I would 100% suggest Gimp, It has most of the features of expensive programs like photoshop (You don't really lose anything unless you're like pretty advanced or something, all the basics + are there) Best of all it's free!

I use Photoshop - great but definitely not free.  I've heard a lot of people in the community say they use Gimp, and it does have a Mac version.  Seems like that would be the best way to go.

Thanks to each who replied. I think I will probably try Gimp. I've been hearing about it for awhile now, so it's probably time I take a look anyway. Eventually, I would love to buy PhotoShop. My students use if for News at school all the time, and I'd like to learn more about it on my own time rather than when I'm trying to quickly troubleshoot (or more often, watching the more experienced students troubleshoot) at deadline time.

You won't need to buy the full Photoshop Addict, just Photoshop Elements, it's a lot cheaper!
