I have not used terrain tools that often and I am in need to learn how to make hills and such for the BnS challenge. Any advice and/or tips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Kim

The main tools I use are the heighten and soften tools. I prefer to use softer brushes, around the halfway mark on the slider, so the hills don't look too peaky. Generally I use the biggest round brush and hold down the mouse button and kinda wave the mouse about the area I want to heighten. Then grab the soften tool so they look more realistic. To build on hills I use foundation as it takes the lumps and bumps into consideration whereas walls don't.
Hope thats not too vague, might try take some screenies when I'm in game later to try explain what I mean.

Hi Kim! Indeed, you should start playing with this tool and you'll LOVE it! I agree with Lucindra about the "soften terrain" option because it blends high and low elevations together nicely. However, if you what to keep sharp edges for a rockier look, don't use it. But the biggest this is you have to know which direction to lay down foundation on/around hills to keep it from flattening the ground around it. START at your HIGHEST point and move to the lowest to keep the ground against the building. Going from low to high creates a flat ground adjacent to the building. Get it?
This tool is one of THE most detailed with all of it's options within it but easy to control after a little practice. With your talent, I know you'll get the hang of it in no time and I can't wait to see how you apply it!

Thanks Lucindra , I haven't messed with the sliders. I think that will help. Cameo, start at the highest and work to the lowest; like painting, paint dark to light. I can handle that. Thanks. Also, thanks for the vote of confidence.
