Hi everyone, I'm pretty new to building. I entered the latest build and share and would like to know what everyone thinks of my first proper build! Constructive Criticism is welcome!
House Tour is here http://www.slideshare.net/AuroraDay01/dawn-cottage And you can download it here http://www.mediafire.com/?xnie5nie3mg

I like this build a lot. The exterior is very nice and well done and the colors and furniture you have used inside the house fits well together. You should work on your picture taking skills though. From the slideshow it was pretty difficult to see what each room looked like as a whole because you have only taken pics of parts of the rooms and sometimes from a very special angle. Not to mention the grid.. There are always screenshot taking "tips and tricks" posted on the challenge thread. You can find them by scrolling down a bit after reading the challenge instructions. I'm sure you can find them helpful. And don't worry, no one is a master of anything when they do something for the first time, so take your time learning

There are some lovely things in your house! I love the wall paper patterns. I agree with Anartistica that you need to improve your shots, but that will come with time. You might also consider adding a flat roof under the main roof. That way, when you take your shots, there will be a ceiling rather than the open sky (and the flat roof doesn't cost anything!). I would have added drapery to the window with the toilet in front of it to make sure those prying neighbors' eyes don't find their way into the bathroom! Overall, though, you have a sensitive sense of color and layout. Good job!

Great start for you
I like that you gave the lot some landscaping attention. A lot of new builders neglect that (I know I did starting out). It could have used a little more though. Are you holding down the "alt" key when placing plant? That lets you place the off the grid for a more natural look. Check out the stickied tutorials thread on TS3 for some great landscaping tutorials. I think Allure is the one who's made a few really cool ones.
Happy building | |

Thanks a lot for the nice comments everyone! Kitkat, I think the black and purple pattern came from someone at TSR and I applied it to an existing wallpaper, I think I lightened up the wallpaper that I used in the dining room and added the pattern. It should come through if you download it. I'll focus on my pics next time.
