Maybe I'm behind the times, but has anyone else ever heard of an OMSP?  I hadn't until I learned of  it on another forum (Living Sims) and saw how it works. OMSP stands for "one more slot please," and it is a decorator's dream!  Dying to fit in one more piece of clutter on that shelf, dresser, or end table?  An OMSP will let you do just that.  I used Mango Sim's OMSP (last entry on the page) in several places in the BB Mini-Challenge response I just posted, but it was especially effective with the wicker trunk on the left which comes with *zero* slots for decor on it:

Four OMSP's at the right height let me place the books, cage, conch shell, and decorative box in a place that would normally be left bare.  The lower table to the right also comes with no decor slots, and I was able to use the OMSP of the appropriate height to add the lemonade pitcher there.  I'm in love with these for interior design! If you have any questions about installation or use, feel free to ask me  :)

Here's a picture that shows all the OMSP heights the MangoSims .packages will give you:

And a close-up of that wicker trunk with objects on top that the OMSP let me add:

Not entirely sure which OMSP I used in this picture, but I think it was probably the 2nd or 3rd from the left.  The far right one is refrigerator height which shows you the range of height possibilites.  Enjoy!

Thanks Kitkat for sharing this.  I don't use CC but... The more things like this I see... the more my resolve is dwindling.

Another trick you can use without CC is to use the shelves from generations.  If you use the ALT key while you adjust their height, you can fuse them into the tops of things, then CAS them to match.  It's not as flexible as these OMSP things, though.

I didn't use CC for the longest time, but when I saw how it opens up your design options, I was hooked :)  I hadn't thought about using the new shelves that way... thanks for the tip!

Thanks for the tips, this is very useful. I don't use CC since I think it is one of the issues for game crashes (that is the combination of CC and a buggy game, EA should really work on fixing their bugs)

but I definitely try the shells from Generations when I get it :)

CC CAN cause issues. I think you just have to be sensible about it.  I mostly build, so I don't really see game slowdown and glitches in the way that strict game-players might.  When I do get too much stuff loaded (or something questionable) and my game slows down in build mode, I start removing stuff. I wish TS3 had a better system for that, but it's not too cumbersome overall.  I have a couple of sites I trust, and I mostly stick to those unless I'm really hunting a particular item.

I had a weird situation with my CC last week when I was taking pictures of my interior design for the TS3 Team Building Challenge.  I opened up an old game, plopped my lot in, and sent my sim family over to the community lot so that I could take some photos.  Imagine my horror when Sims with no pants ( Yikes! :/ ) started showing up, accompanied by a mom with a crazy Elasticman baby in her ams.  I'd gotten some bad clothing CC in one of my dl's somehow.  I found the "naked" cc pretty easily and looked on Crinrict's Bad CC blog to figure out which piece of clothing was mutating my babies. Removing the offending items via the Launcher was a bit time consuming, but not difficult at all.  I guess the risk and potential time requirement for removing bad stuff is worth the design payoff for me :)
